LESSON OFFERINGS
The 3 categories offered are those of:
1. FULL COURSE LEARNING
(Usually starting before the November of the academic Exam Year)
This course is particularly suitable for students wanting to get ahead in Maths; those who are looking for Home schooling; as well as those who may be seeking a fresh approach to learning. This course consists of a weekly/fortnightly lesson of 1 hour/1.5 hours, the first hour’s teaching time being divided as follows:
1 HOUR:
10 mins - Review of last lesson with practice questions to test their understanding.
20 mins - Introduction of new topic, showing how to break questions into steps of multiple levels of difficulty.
20 mins - Guided practice in the application of these steps to a range of questions.
10 mins - Recap of key points to remember from the lesson.
1.5 HOUR:
This programme may be followed with an additional 30 minutes to resolve any homework issues arising from our previous lesson; to set new homework and to work through any problems with school work when necessary.
2. GENERAL IMPROVEMENT
This weekly/fortnightly course is designed for those seeking overall improvement in achievement in Maths by increasing skills and technique, or needing help in a particular area. Unlike the Full Course Learning, this option does not aim to introduce new topics but closely follows school programmes of work. This includes help in instances where there are problems with class work or school set homework, by working through extra examples as well as the providing of optional homework to further improve knowledge and understanding.
3. EXAM REVISION & PREPARATION
(Usually starting in March of the academic Exam Year)
This is a weekly course of approximately 10 x 2 hour lessons that allows the time essential for the discussion and resolving of any problems before progressing to the supported practising of selected questions from past Examination papers.
Every lesson is guaranteed thorough preparation, with the constant monitoring of a student’s progress, and with regular updates to parents available when required. Lesson plans are flexible, being open to consultation and adjustment, as appropriate, to suit individual needs.
I offer many options including both online and face to face lessons at either your home, my home in Helsby or at a suitable quiet public location.
The Advantages of Online Tuition
Online lessons are available via an online platform for communication as well a virtual whiteboard. The advantages of online tuition are;

No travel time/costs that may lead to delays and non punctual arrivals.

Lessons can be given in a quieter, smaller part of a building that may be easier to find in a crowded home and lead to fewer distractions.

Lessons can be less intimidating to a student and through this more informal setting it can be an easier, more effective way to study.

Any homework can be completed on the virtual whiteboard and so once marked, any results/corrections can be seen immediately.

For premium students (those on 1.5 hours+ a week), my free of charge “on call” service can give students the chance to ask advice or any quick questions that they may not feel able to ask a teacher during the week. This may ease pressure on themselves within 24 hours of the problem arising, rather than having to wait for the following week’s lesson. This can also help parents, who can now be reassured their child is getting the extra help they need.
